WALTERBORO, S.C. – Savvy guard DeMarco Middleton from Augusta, G.A. has signed a letter of intent to play for USC Salkehatchie and Coach Matt Lynch. Middleton, a 6-foot, 2-inch, 170-pound guard, has won three straight state championships at Westside Highschool under legendary Coach Jerry Hunter.
"Winner's win. DeMarco is a winner. It's in his DNA," said Coach Lynch. "With a sophomore heavy roster returning, it was imperative that we sign the right freshmen to continue to build the foundation of the program. He's a gym rat who immediately brings championship level culture to our team. DeMarco competes on every possession, and I am excited to get the opportunity to coach him."
Middleton boasts an impressive basketball resume that includes:
4-year starter at Westside
3-year state champion
870 career assists (All-time school record)
1,000 Point Club member
2023 AA Georgia State Player of the Year
“Demarco knows exactly who he is," said Coach Jerry Hunter, head boy's basketball coach at Westside High School in Augusta, G.A. "He’s always relaxed and confident. His style of play is savvy, but don’t let the smooth taste fool you. He can go toe-to-toe with the best of them!”
Marco is the third signee for the reigning Region 10 champs. He joins a strong freshmen recruiting class that already consists of Jeremaih McCain (Columbia, S.C.) and Devan Rush (Atlanta, G.A.).
