WALTERBORO, S.C. – The USC Salkehatchie men’s basketball team posted a 3.5 cumulative GPA during the Fall 2025 semester, marking the highest team GPA during Coach Matt Lynch's tenure. The academic achievement came alongside significant on-court success, underscoring the program’s commitment to excellence in all areas.
Ten of the team’s 14 student-athletes earned GPAs of 3.5 or higher, with Doous Alemdar and Sam Brannon each achieving a perfect 4.0 for the semester.
“Our men’s basketball team sets a standard of excellence not just on the court, but in the classroom as well,” said April Cone, Dean of USC Salkehatchie. "Their academic achievements reflect hard work, discipline, and a strong commitment to their goals. We couldn’t be prouder.”
Dr. Miller, Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, echoed those sentiments. “We are proud of the accomplishments of these student-athletes. A strong academic foundation will serve them well in their next steps beyond USC Salkehatchie, no matter what path they choose.”
Head Coach Matt Lynch also praised the team’s dedication to winning in the classroom. “This is a special group, and I’m thankful every day that I get to coach these guys.”

I used to get so frustrated when my car flipped over in mad drive but now I think those crashes are just part of the journey. It is like life because sometimes you have to fail a few times before you finally make it to the finish line.
