Salkehatchie Shows Progress Against Conference Leader Sumter

USC Salkehatchie volleyball took a set from conference-undefeated USC Sumter in a 3–1 loss Monday night during the teams’ third and final regular-season conference meeting. After falling in straight sets in their previous two matchups, Salkehatchie’s performance showed the team’s continued progress.

“I think my team battled for every point last night,” the coach said. “We continue to put in work to get better. Every single day, every match. That really showed last night in how we played against Sumter who is undefeated in the Conference.”

Sophomore captain Hailey Stephens returned from a two-week injury absence and led Salkehatchie’s defense with 22 digs. Heloisa Bernardo led the attack with 14 kills on 46 attempts.

Salkehatchie currently sits second in the conference with an 8–6 conference record.
