Men's Soccer Team Shows Promise

Updated: 1 minute ago

ALLENDALE, S.C. – Despite a 2-0 defeat, the USC Salkehatchie men's soccer team displayed a promising performance on Sunday against Patrick Henry Community College. The match, which saw the Indians hold Patrick Henry to a single-goal lead for much of the game, was a testament to the team's developing strength.

"Patrick Henry seemed to have an unlimited supply of elite-level players," said Coach Bill Glass. "Still, we were in the game, only one goal behind in the late going, when a penalty kick was awarded to the Patriots."

With the score at 2-0, Glass used the opportunity to get crucial minutes for the team's future, giving several freshmen valuable game experience. Their performance was a major bright spot.

"I was very happy with the way our substitutes played," said Glass. "They stymied a very strong Patriot attack while creating chances of their own."

The Indians look to carry this positive energy into their next match, an important Region 10 contest against USC Union at 4 p.m. on Friday at home.
