WALTERBORO, S.C. –  The USC Salkehatchie men's basketball team completed its sweep of Gaston College on Wednesday night with a 90-84 win. Prior to tonight's tip, USC Salkehatchie was presented with a gift of $5,000 from Genesis Healthcare, Inc. and Director of Community Outreach and Engagement, Howard Nettles. Mr. Nettles also served as the honorary coach of the game, helping lead Salkehatchie to victory.
USC Salkehatchie battled in the early minutes of the first half, but ultimately Gaston's hot shooting proved to be too much as Gaston led at the break 52-40.
Halftime adjustments and increased effort allowed Salkehatchie to come out and immediately turn the game around. Salkehatchie chipped away at the Rhino's lead, eventually taking the lead for good, 63-61. Toughness and rebounds down the stretch helped Salk secure the win.
With tonight's victory, Salkehatchie secured a spot in the Region 10 Tournament which will be hosted at Catawba Valley Community College beginning Thursday, March 14. Seeding will be determined at the conclusion of the regular season.
