USC Salkehatchie Earns Key Region Win Against USC Sumter

USC Salkehatchie men’s soccer earned a hard-fought region victory with a decisive goal from Mason Divirgilio and a shutout performance from goalkeeper Cyril Vital.

The winning play began when Lenny Mbimou delivered a well-placed through ball that sent Divirgilio past the Fire Ants’ final defender. With the goalkeeper rushing out to challenge him, Divirgilio calmly chipped the ball into the net.

“Soccer is a player’s game, and today the Salkehatchie players not only played hard but played smart. That’s what made the difference,” said Coach Glass.

“Big region win,” Guaslin Michel said. “Great teamwork today!”

Mbimou finished with one assist, while Vital protected the lead by playing all 90 minutes without allowing a goal.
