Salk Defeats Nationally Ranked Brunswick, 126–117

WALTERBORO, S.C. – The USC Salkehatchie Men’s Basketball team defeated nationally ranked Brunswick Community College on Sunday, 126-117. The Dolphins entered the contest nationally ranked at # 25 in the most recent NJCAA poll. Salkehatchie remains undefeated at home (9-0) and improves to 1-1 in Region 10 play and 15-2 overall.

The game was a back-and-forth affair as Brunswick took an early 28-20 lead. Salkehatchie put together back-to-back runs to take a 54-45 lead at the break. The Indians' relentless tempo proved to be the difference as Salkehatchie sprinted past Brunswick down the stretch.

The Indians will now turn their focus to Richard Bland University as they prepare for a two-game road trip up north. The Indians will take on the Statesman on Friday, Jan. 16, followed by a matchup at Wake Tech on Saturday, Jan. 17. 15-2 overall and still undefeated at home is impressive, but I’m honestly stuck on the defense part — 126-117 feels like a game where you just have to out-run mistakes. Their pace feels like committing to a whole identity, the way a soft summer color palette guide commits you to a specific look; once you pick it, everything else follows from that.

Games like this are fun but also kind of stressful — every possession feels like it matters when both teams are scoring at will. I wasn’t there, but the vibe sounds like nonstop action, like flipping through Ghibli-style photo art and never landing on just one scene because everything’s happening at once.

That “relentless tempo” line makes total sense — when a team plays like that, even a ranked opponent can’t ever get comfortable. I’m curious how they handle it on the road, because home energy helps a lot; it’s kind of like how stuff gets surfaced differently on hrefgo depending on where you’re browsing from and what you’re looking for.

Beating a #25 team while staying 9-0 at home is a legit statement, but that score also screams “track meet.” The constant lead changes early felt like a quick shift in momentum — almost like running a tiny switch in CaesarCipher and getting a totally different output; one run and the whole game flips.

Giving up 117 and still winning says a lot about how fast this game must’ve been — basically no margin for empty trips. I swear watching box scores like this feels like chasing a high score in BlockBlast, except these guys had to do it for 40 minutes.
