USC Salkehatchie Volleyball Season Ends in Hard-Fought Region 10 Tournament Battle

The USC Salkehatchie volleyball team wrapped up its 2025 season with a loss to rival USC Lancaster in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 10 Tournament. Despite their efforts, the team was defeated in three straight sets (0-3).
Tournament Match Highlights
While the scoreboard favored USCL, the match was a grueling, point-for-point contest that reflected the competitive spirit of the Salkehatchie squad. Key players stepped up to deliver significant performances in the final game of the season:
Hailey Stephens (L) anchored the back row defense, posting an impressive 19 digs.
Madison Ayuso (S) ran the offense efficiently, racking up 21 assists.
Leyna Weirzbicki (RS) was a force at the net, tallying 3 solo blocks.
Head Coach Dani Aquino praised the team’s tenacity in the high-stakes environment.
"Tough to see the end of our season today," said Aquino. "But we definitely battled against USCL, going point for point all three sets. The heart and competitive fire our athletes showed in the tournament is what we will carry into next season."

The hard-fought tournament match comes after four members of the team were recognized for their outstanding play by being named to the NJCAA All-Region 10 Team for the 2025 season:
