USC Salkehatchie Men's Basketball Edges Fayetteville Tech 137–135 in Thrilling Season Opener

WALTERBORO, S.C. — USC Salkehatchie men’s basketball opened its season with a nail-biting 137–135 victory over Fayetteville Tech at home Saturday, Oct. 31.

Trailing 68–64 at halftime, Salkehatchie poured in 73 second-half points to complete the comeback. With the game on the line, a crucial basket followed by a defensive stop secured the two-point win.

The victory offered an encouraging start for a young Salkehatchie roster. Of the 12 players who entered the game, 10 were true freshmen.

“We had 12 guys check into the game, and of those 12, 10 were true freshmen,” said head coach Matt Lynch. “For this group to figure out a win at home against a talented Fayetteville team shows positive signs for this season. Lots to be proud of. Lots to build on.”

Salkehatchie begins the season 1–0, with its opening performance providing both a confidence boost and a foundation for continued growth.
