Allendale-Fairfax Elementary School welcomed 37 student-athletes and Coach Jeremy Joye to its Community Reading Day on Friday!
The student-athletes read books to the elementary students and shared a little about USC Salkehatchie.
“Activities like Community Reading Day are excellent ways for our students to give back,” Coach Joye said. “We have a chance to instill a love of reading in those who may not enjoy it—to show them it can be fun. For those who already enjoy reading, we have an opportunity to foster that love. Additionally, events like these allow our student-athletes to inspire and mentor young students. Some of our athletes may be nervous, but as soon as they walk through those doors and are greeted with those smiles, the feelings of nervousness often dissipate. They realize just how easy it can be to impact others. I am very grateful to everyone at Allendale Fairfax Elementary School for welcoming us today. Sometimes simple things can have the greatest impact.”
