WALTERBORO, S.C. – The USC Salkehatchie men's basketball team completed a season sweep of Denmark Tech on Thursday with a 111-108 victory. Salkehatchie moves to 10-4 in Region 10 play and finishes the regular season with a record of 23-7.
It was a night of celebration as the evening began with a ring ceremony honoring last year's 2023-2024 Region 10 Championship team. It was also Sophomore Night where the men's basketball program honored its eight sophomores before tipoff.
The game was back and forth to begin as Denmark came out of the game with tons of energy. The teams would trade runs and Denmark would hold a slim four-point advantage at the half, 55-51.
Salkehatchie would come out of halftime with a renewed focus and quickly jumped back in front. Denmark would never quit and battled buzzer to buzzer. Salkehatchie was able to hold off a late Denmark run to win by three.
Salkehatchie will now prepare for the Region 10 Tournament next week at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, N.C. Salkehatchie will be the number three seed and they will take on sixth-seeded Caldwell Tech in the first round.
