USC Salkehatchie Women’s Basketball Secures Division I Region 10 Regular Season Championship

WALTERBORO, S.C. — The USC Salkehatchie women’s basketball team has  captured the NJCAA Division I Region 10 Championship following a pair of decisive victories in January.

Championship Clinched Against Denmark Tech

On January 21, 2026, USC Salkehatchie defeated Denmark Tech 120–82, a victory that confirmed their status as regular-season Division 1 Region 10 champions.  The game was highlighted by a powerful 44-point performance in the fourth quarter, showcasing the team's ability to maintain intensity throughout the entire contest.

LaNasia Wilson led the scoring effort with 41 points, while Kemarja Peay provided a dominant presence in the paint with 23 points and 15 rebounds.

"My staff and I are extremely proud of how our girls played," said Coach Erin Houser. "We are very proud of the team basketball that was displayed, the energy maintained throughout the entire game, and especially the incredible support from our community. This game solidified us as the Division I Region 10 NJCAA regular-season champions. Overall, I am incredibly proud of and thankful for this team."

Victory Over Newberry College JV

Earlier in the month, on January 8, Salkehatchie set the tone for their championship run with a 91–51 win over Newberry College JV. The game featured a balanced offensive attack with contributions from across the roster.

Dalashia Brunson led all scorers with 19 points, followed closely by Madison Kerry with 17. The team's defensive efforts were bolstered by Kemarja Peay, who recorded 14 rebounds to complement her 11 points.
