The USC Salkehatchie volleyball team split their matches today in a competitive tri-match, securing a strong win over Patrick & Henry Community College before falling to the reigning region champions, Caldwell Community College.
Game Highlights
The Salkehatchie Indians started the day on a high note, defeating Patrick & Henry with a convincing 3-0 victory. The momentum from a recent win earlier in the week carried over, as the team displayed confident play.
However, the second match against Caldwell Community College proved to be a tough battle. Caldwell, who won their region title last season, showcased a dominating offense, handing Salkehatchie a 0-3 loss.
Coach's Take
"After our high from our win Thursday, we came into today's tri-match with our heads high," said Coach Dani Aquino. "We took Patrick and Henry in three and were ready to face Caldwell, who won their region title last season. However, our passing today was no match for Caldwell’s quick sets and dominating offense."
Player Standouts
Several players delivered strong performances throughout the day:
Sophomore Captain Kambree Meyer was a force at the net, pulling down 11 kills on the day.
Setter Cheyenne Hammock kept the opposition on its heels with 3 service aces.
Defensive player Brielle Krause was a standout in the backcourt, earning an impressive 26 digs.
