WALTERBORO, S.C. — The University of South Carolina Salkehatchie softball team hosted Monroe University for a doubleheader on Friday. The Lady Indians fell in both contests to the Mustangs.
In the first game of the afternoon, Monroe University secured a 9-0 victory in six innings. The second matchup saw a tighter defensive performance from the Lady Indians, but they were unable to overcome an early deficit, resulting in a 2-0 loss.
USC Salkehatchie will look to rebound this Sunday, February 8, as they host East Georgia State College. The doubleheader will be held at the Lemon Park Sports Complex in Barnwell. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM, with game two to follow at approximately 2:00 PM.

A tough loss, no doubt. Monroe played a clinical game, and our softball squad just couldn't find the gaps today. It’s a setback, but the season is far from over. I also have to give a shout-out to the post’s layout—the subtle use of the Gradient Tool on the score overlay makes the text pop without being distracting. Clean visuals for a hard-hitting recap.
Too bad for the Lady Indians, their defense in the second game was much better but they just couldn't turn it around. That’s sports for you, never give up, it reminds me of trying to master those tough corners in Drift Hunters, stay persistent and the results will eventually follow.
I read the recap about the softball game, and I could feel how hard both teams played and how close the action was in the field. When my schoolwork got really heavy last year, I even wished someone could do my algebra class for me so I had more time to watch games and relax a bit. It made me think that sports and school both take dedication and heart.
Monroe University got off to a strong start, but USC Salkehatchie will definitely look to bounce back like a player dodging obstacles in Crossy Road. Hopefully, they’ll overcome the early challenges and get that win this Sunday
