ree

The USC Salkehatchie volleyball team fell to conference opponent USC Sumter in a 0-3 loss on Thursday night. The match was characterized by a series of long, intense rallies, but the visiting team's aggressive serving and offensive power proved to be the difference maker.

"This was a tough loss to a conference opponent," said Head Coach Dani Aquino. "Sumter simply outplayed us both in serves and on offense. They had some seriously hard serves, and we had a tough time turning those passes into something playable."

Despite the challenging serves, several players stood out for Salkehatchie.   Freshman Right Side Leyna Weirzbicki demonstrated her attacking prowess, hitting 21 balls and earning a team-leading 8 kills. Freshman Defensive Specialist Ariana Martinez was a force on the deep court, tallying 14 digs and passing 17 serve receive balls with zero errors, showcasing remarkable consistency and control.

Salkehatchie will look to rebound in their next match on Saturday, September 13, at 1:00 p.m. against Sandhills CC in Pinehurst, N.C.
