WALTERBORO, S.C. – The USC Salkehatchie men's basketball team used a defensive second half to push past Columbia International 78-67.
Salkehatchie struggled early from the floor, while CIU began the game with a ton of energy. Cold shooting by the group lead to only 39 points in the first half, a season low. CIU went into halftime with a slim lead, 42-39.
In the second half, the team came out of the gate strong and utilized its half court man-to-man defense to regain the lead. Salkehatchie held CIU to just 25 points in the second half.
Salkehatchie will hit the road on Saturday for a pair of conference games, playing Saturday in Petersburg, VA, against Richard Bland and Sunday in Raleigh, NC, against Wake Tech. Be sure to follow @USCSalkMBB on Facebook, X, and Instagram for updates and livestream information.
