Softball standout Emasue Kay has been named the Kesia Brown State Farm Student-Athlete of the Month for April 2026.

A native of Newberry, South Carolina, Kay has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to

excellence both on the softball diamond and in the classroom. Maintaining a 3.95 GPA, Kay

exemplifies the true meaning of a student-athlete, balancing a rigorous academic schedule with the demands of collegiate competition.

Kay was nominated for the honor by Head Softball Coach Ashleigh Anderson, who highlighted the sophomore's proactive work ethic. Whether putting in extra hours at the field or in the hitting cage without being prompted, Kay's dedication to her craft is evident. Beyond her individual performance, she is recognized as a selfless teammate who consistently offers support and rallies the Indians during challenging moments in play.

"Emasue is an outstanding student-athlete who focuses on excelling in both areas," the Anderson said. "She makes sure she is on top of her studies and doesn't fall behind when missing class for games. She supports her teammates and always asks what she can do to help the team."

With a career goal of becoming a business owner, Kay’s leadership on the field serves as a

foundation for her future professional aspirations. Her ability to maintain high academic standards while serving as a vocal leader for the softball program makes her a deserving recipient of this recognition.
