Aquino Snags Twins for Upcoming Season

Updated: Jun 17

While on the recruiting trail, Coach Aquino came in contact with identical twin sisters A'Kira and A'Kyra Davis, who dominate in volleyball.

"I began chatting with Kira first," Aquino said. "She has massive aspirations and an enthusiasm that is unmatched. It wasn't until months later that I connected with her sister Kyra through their club coach and found that she, too, has similar goals."

Kira says the opportunity to play for USC Salkehatchie is everything.

"After receiving this amazing opportunity, I thought back to my sophomore year at 15 years old, when I was made the goal to become a Division 1 athlete. It made me think of one of my favorite verses in the Bible, Job 22:28. This verse says, 'You will succeed in whatever you choose to do, and light will shine on the road ahead of you.' This verse alone reassured me that I can accomplish anything in my life. Being able to play volleyball at USC Salkehatchie is a true blessing, and I’m very grateful!"

Kyra shares a similar sentiment.

"To play volleyball at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie is honestly a blessing and a childhood dream. After dealing with my knee surgery last November, deciding where I went post high school was a difficult decision for me. It was the most mentally and physically challenging experience I’ve ever endured. A passage from the Bible, Isaiah 41:10, helped get me through it. Knee surgery made me question my love and determination to continue the sport of volleyball, so to say I’m appreciative for this opportunity is an understatement!"

Kira and Kyra are from Columbus, Georgia. Kira plans on becoming a counseling psychiatrist, while her sister Kyra plans on becoming a pediatrician.
